What's happening
You clicked record in the app, but recording doesn't start. Or it started, but the other person's voice isn't in the transcript.
Where to look first
Check the app's intro window (it shows permission status), the window that opens from the menu bar icon (the popover), and any error message on the meeting screen.
Try these steps
- Read the error message in the app If it mentions microphone or system audio permission, it's a permissions problem.
- If the message only says “Couldn't start recording”, check everything below The cause hasn't been narrowed down. Check both your connection and your permissions.

- On Windows, allow access on the microphone privacy screen It's the microphone privacy screen in Settings.
- Go back to the app and click [Check again ↻] This step applies only while the intro window is open. Skip it if you've already finished the intro.
- Check your internet connection If you're offline, reconnect first.
- Start recording again Click record again after changing the settings.
- If it still fails, quit the app completely and open it again Then try starting the recording.
- If the other person's voice is missing, check that you can hear it on that computer Sound you can't hear isn't recorded.
- If you see “Sound capture stopped”, click [Resume] Recording has paused. Pick it back up on the meeting screen.
